A review of the Master Grade Gundam Double X (MG Gundam DX) from the 1996 anime series After War Gundam X. It's a pretty simple MG Gunpla of a really underrated Gundam.

Life's been kind of weird recently, had a lot going on. I even had a 2 week trip in the middle, where I didn't have access to Gunpla. In hindsight, I shouldn't have announced this review until it was 50% done... Lesson learned. Anyway, please follow my Instagram or Twitter, as I'll be returning to using those now. I just got a Canon R5, so I'm hoping I can get back to work, both in Gunpla videos and general photography.

-- Production Notes For Future Me to Laugh At --

This review took FOREVER to make. It was a combination of me not being prepared to start working on it yet announcing it anyway, job interviews, making videos for my current job, a vacation, and this being a really big 19 minute video.

I kind of forgot how to make these videos since the last one... so hope this turned out alright.

This will be the last review shot with my Canon 6D mk II. I recently got a Canon R5, so gonna have a lot of fun messing with that. I actually got the R5 towards the end of this review, but decided to continue using the 6D for the last bit of footage for consistency.

For those curious: Canon 6D mk II, Sigma 50mm f/1.4 ART, Canon 35mm f/2.0 IS (only for articulation footage), Shure sm7b into a Cloudlifter into a Focusrite Scarlett Solo. Edited using Adobe Bridge/Photoshop/Premiere/Audition and Audacity. Also, I use Hoya polarizers, have 3 LED's surrounding the kit and a mini LED for mounting on my camera. Yep, quite the set-up for gunpla robot toy reviews haha. Everything works great. If you're looking to get into videos, I recommend any of the above.

The script took the longest here. I just couldn't nail it down. Eventually I just gave up, and recorded what I had. This is why it's such a long, redundant review. It needed a few more passes to whittle it down. I even forgot to throw in references/comparisons to other kits...

The footage was recorded similarly to the Hi-Nu (Redo Review), as that also had large gaps in production. Basically, I scored all the footage I needed, or thought I'd need. Edited it, then when back to fill in the gaps after the fact.

The stills look fine to me. I did notice that the mirrors don't look as good as they do in real life, due to the polarizer I use with my lens. It cuts out the reflection from the gold. I probably should've removed the polarizer for those shots.

There was a ton of footage for this review. I didn't know how much I'd need, so I just got everything. Pretty sure the folder for this review is 30+ gigs.

I ended up going a little weird with the transformation walkthrough. I don't normally do that, but here I decided 'why not?' Some weird angles, but it was interesting to shoot.

The audio is pretty straightforward. It does sound a little bad imo, but nothing too crazy. May just need a different EQ or something. It's a tad loud though.

Everything came together in the editing, and I took 3 months of various stop-and-go sessions of work and took inventory of what I had.

Editing was stressful. I had videos due for work that I was working on at the same times as this. I feel like I'm missing something in this video, but I can't quite figure it out. Very annoying... It'll come to me in a month when it's too late for me to re-upload this lol

The title card turned out pretty alright, in my opinion. I could've used some cleaning up for the gold glow, but it's good enough. Up to my current standards, anyway.

I'm thinking for the next video, I won't announce it until it's already 75% done lol.
