The bad part about this is they can also be stolen very quickly for the same reason. Regardless, this job is very simple and should take around 5 minutes to accomplish. TOOLS NEEDED:
You will need a flat-head screwdriver to pop the tailgate cables. You could probably use other tools as long as they perform the same function.

PROCESS:
We love quick videos and faster installs/removals. This will be probably one of our fastest videos. It's pretty easy, if you do not want your tailgate stolen or at least make it harder, always keep it locked. To remove the tailgate, you'll have to open it first and release the cables. The cables work on this latch that goes around a bolt on each end. There is a tab or release you have to push on this metal ring to maneuver the latch around the bolt. You can use the flat-head screwdriver for this and it's quite easy. Now you have to remove the tailgate by lifting it up and away. Normally, on the right side of every tailgate, it will sit in this steel pocket. Similar to a deadbolt of a door, you have to maneuver the passenger side of the tailgate out by placing it halfway closed. The tailgate can only be removed if the narrow side fits the pocket. The driver-side just needs to be pulled out to the passenger-side and the tailgate is now removed. The install process should be very easy, just work in reverse.
