This walk kicks off on the northern side of Long Ping MTR station in the town of Yuen Long. Walking past a small park and crossing the Shan Pui River, we turn right along Wang Lok Street and a tree lined path.

As the road veers to the left, we stay on the footpath that follows the river and continue with factories to our left and the Shan Pui River to our right.

The path ends and enters the Yuen Long Industrial Estate area and we follow the road past numerous factories until we reach Fuk Shun Street and the village of Tai Tseng Wai.

Having passed through the village, we turn off a short steep road to reach the start of the trail that leads to Fai Shan.

The trail is quite steep and with loose dirt under foot it’s a careful hike uphill towards the summit of Kai Shan. Turning back from time to time, a view quicky emerges of the Yuen Long Industrial Estate, the fish ponds of Fung Lok Wai, the Hong Kong Wetland Park and the backdrop of Shenzhen across the boundary.

At the summit of Kai Shan the trig marker signals the top of the hike and time is taken to view the 3D artworks inscribed into the rock.

Heading downhill the view changes to look across Tin Shui Wai and Ping Shan. The trail is once again steep with loose crumbling dirt underfoot.

The trail emerges on to Ha Mei San Tuen Road and heads towards Tin Shui Wai MTR Station passing by Tin Tsz Garden along the way.
