Aimed at advancing social development, youth empowerment, and poverty alleviation within the Morvant community, the newly established Mor Ventures Foundation is helping to create a positive, long-lasting impact through direct outreach, mentorship, education, and capacity building.

The community-based non-governmental organisation (NGO) hosted its inaugural hamper distribution ceremony on Tuesday.

Founder of Mor Ventures Foundation, John Hinds, said school supplies for students preparing for the new academic year and food hampers for households in need were distributed.

"The Mor Ventures Foundation was started with that objective of helping the at risk and the vulnerable in the community of Morvant and environs and it's from a dream to a reality now."

The Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service has partnered with Mor Ventures Foundation to provide mentorship to young men within the community, implemented by the Morvant Mentorship Programme.

Fire Officer Boucher said: "We decided to target the young men between the ages of twelve to fourteen normally now leaving primary school going into secondary school and we say hear what, that's going to be our target group because there isn't much programmes for them for young men and we realised let's be real, twelve to fourteen years, some of them done smoking, some of them drinking, some of them holding gun."
