Veteran actor Om puri who passed away in January this year casted his spell on Hollywood as well.
Popular for films like East Is East, Gandhi, City of Joy and Wolf, Puri was honoured at the 89th Academy Awards ceremony in the "In Memoriam" montage.
Singer and songwriter Sara Bareilles delivered a special performance of the song "Both Sides Now".
And a visibly emotional Jennifer Aniston introduced the memoriam segment.
Om Puri was remembered at the awards ceremony, which was held at the Dolby Theatre along with other deceased actors.
While this move was praised by Indian celebrities, Bollywood ace actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui took to Twitter to slam Bollywood awards for completely ignoring the lost icon.
A Padma Shri awardee and National Award-winner, Om Puri was also made the honorary officer of the Order of the British Empire for his services to the British film industry
