Saltwater Rinse: Mix 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water. Swish the solution around your mouth for 30 seconds, then spit it out. Repeat several times a day.  

As an alternative to salt water, rinse with a solution of equal parts hydrogen peroxide and water. Always mix the hydrogen peroxide with water. Don't use it undiluted. Rinse thoroughly and spit it out.

Cold Compress: Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek near the affected tooth for 20 minutes at a time, several times a day.  

Peppermint Tea Bag: Steep a peppermint tea bag in hot water, then allow it to cool slightly. Place the cooled tea bag on the affected tooth for a few minutes.  

Clove Oil: Apply a small amount of clove oil to a cotton ball and place it on the affected tooth. Clove oil contains eugenol, a natural anesthetic.  

Garlic: Place a crushed garlic clove on the affected tooth.
Garlic has natural antibacterial properties.
