Mzee is back, the man who brought you the classic Mahuwelele and the club anthems like Zvinosiririsa and Umoja, is coming back with a bang with a brand new album after more than 5 years away from the music industry, as he was busy writing his now best selling memoir Nothing Left To Steal. This time around, Mzee introduces Rafiki - a Swahili word for friends - his old time collaborator DJ Godheaven and Juliano, a renown pianist, as his new collaborators and comrades in arms. The team, Mzee & Rafiki, best known as the South African Ancestral and tribal kings are set to drop their Pan-African studio album titled Timhamba (Ancestral Rituals). The album is a masterpiece of collaborations the team had with musicians from around the world but mostly African artists. In this album, Mzee & Rafiki criss-crossed around and collaborated with the Mansa of Mali, the legendary Salif Keita, Aly Faque, who is hailed as the voice of Mozambique, Ali, a Muslim spiritual singer from Turkey, Kashivi Andre, an elderly Khoisan singer from South Africa, Alino, an up and coming musician from Democratic Republic of Congo, Phuzekhemisi, who is the doyen of Maskandi music in South Africa, Suthukazi Arosi, another veteran and African soul singer from South Africa, Oliver Mtukuzi, the legendary music icon from Zimbabwe, Brenda Mtambo, a former member of the award winning gospel group, Joyous Celebration in South Africa, Kunle Ayo, a Nigerian jazz musician, Bholoja, the amazing voice of Swaziland to mention just a few. DJ Godheaven has been with Mzee for years, a member of The A Team - a group of up and coming young producers at Bomba Records, Mzee's record label, and also his protégés while Juliano has been playing piano for the award winning South African afropop group, Malaika. Mzee and Rafiki have been hard at work at Bomba Records in Johannesburg over the past two years cooking up this new album. Mzee and Rafiki are here to ruffle some feathers and are going to get you hooked on the deep African house music again. This album is the food for the soul and fuel for your feet. The Bomba Records team is back to reclaim their crown and raise the South African flag across the globe
