Sheriff Marlin Gillespie was interviewed at his home in Holbrook Arizona by Travis Walton and film maker Jennifer W. Stein, on August 4, 2014. The purpose of this interview was to allow Marlin to recount his experiences investigating the missing person case of Travis Walton reported on November 5, 1975. This case exploded into the main-stream media as a missing person case, a possible homicide, and a possible UFO abduction. Parts of this interview were edited into a multi-award-winning documentary film called “Travis: The True Story of Travis Walton.”
Synopsis: Driving home after a day of clearing underbrush in the Sitgreaves National Forest, seven loggers come upon a 40-foot shiny disc hovering on the crest of a ridge. As if spellbound, 21-year-old Travis Walton jumps from the passenger side of their work truck and runs toward the craft for a closer look. That decision, November 5, 1975, would change him and these loggers forever. Travis’s story became a book called “Fire in the Sky” and a movie (1993). The Paramount Picture feature film enhanced his “close encounter of the third kind,” (a term coined by ufologist J. Allen Hynek denoting human observations of actual aliens or “animate beings”). So, the Paramount pictures version is not accurate on some aspects of his story. The Travis Walton UFO story remains one of the most well documented stories of all time that will soon commemorate the 50th anniversary of this incident. Jennifer W. Stein, and her co producers, made the definitive documentary about Travis Walton UFO encounter. This film was practically five years in the making. 2025 will mark the 50th Anniversary of this event. This will be marked by several appearances and special events at various conferences, special screenings, and a special UFO conference in Sedona Arizona.
