Muffler Shootout: Thrush Welded vs Flowtech Raptor vs Rumble Performance O'Rileys (1968 Pontiac)

Описание к видео Muffler Shootout: Thrush Welded vs Flowtech Raptor vs Rumble Performance O'Rileys (1968 Pontiac)

In this video we go through another series of the cheap muffler shootout.
Contestants this round
Thrush Welded Muffler
Flowtech Raptor Turbo Muffler
Rumple Performance 2 chamber O'Rileys Muffler
No muffler-Straight Pipes
The drone level in the video vs real life is not an accurate comparison. You can hear where the drone comes in though. I can post a video of just the thrush welded driving around if you would like to hear that.
My Conclusion thus far. The Rumble has a mellower tone than the thrush, but it is deeper. Not as harsh in the mid range. I dont like the turbo as I said, but in this case this Flowtech had about the same drone as the Welded Flowmaster type mufflers, which was by far unacceptable for trying to quiet the car down, and achieving no better cabin noise. The rumble I still have to drive more but sounds closer to my all time favorites the Flowmaster Super 44 mufflers. The difference is I would say its a little more mellow, and has much less drone than the Super 44 would have. I recommend watching the shootout on engine masters as well. Very interesting results. I believe the sound change is due to the removal of the vents in the delta plates in the middle of the muffler, which I definite like. Good compromise for the sound I love. Car is 1968 Pontiac Catalina with a small cam otherwise stock 400. Highway gears.
