Welcome to my cozy DIY channel! In today’s video, I’ll guide you step-by-step through making a beautiful bunch of hydrangea flowers entirely out of pipe cleaners. Whether you're looking for a relaxing craft project, planning handmade decorations, or searching for creative gift ideas, these fluffy, realistic hydrangeas are perfect!

📌 *Materials You’ll Need:*
21 dark purple pipe cleaners
21 light purple pipe cleaners
14 green pipe cleaners
3mm white beads (for the flower centers)
Floral wire stems
Floral tape
Scissors, wire cutters, and hot glue gun

🌿 Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Preparing the Pipe Cleaners
Cut all of your purple pipe cleaners in half. Then cut the green pipe cleaners into thirds, each around 10cm long. These will form the flower stems.

Step 2: Making One Flower Petal
Take two pieces of light purple pipe cleaner. Fold each one in half and then unfold them to form a cross. Twist them together in the center to secure.

Fold a piece of green pipe cleaner around 3cm from the top to create a small hook, then twist this into the center of the purple pipe cleaner cross. This secures the flower to the stem.

Now gently fold each of the four arms of the purple pipe cleaners inward to hide the green stem underneath. Shape one of the arms into a loop and twist it to secure the shape. Tuck any excess pipe cleaner behind the flower and press flat with pliers.

💡 Tip: Don’t leave the ends too short—you’ll need enough length to secure and shape the flower properly.

Step 3: Shaping the Petals
After making a few, you’ll get the hang of the size and shaping. Don’t worry if the first few aren’t perfect—just keep going!

Gently press the petals inward with your thumb to create a natural, cupped petal shape.

Step 4: Creating the Flower Centers
Cut off the fuzzy ends of the green stems to make them look cleaner and more realistic. Be careful with sharp tools!

Wrap the cleaned stem with floral tape. Then, use a bit of eyeshadow (or soft color pigment) to add a tint to the flower center. Apply a small dot of hot glue and add a 3mm white bead to finish the look.

Step 5: Repeat with Color Variations
Repeat the same process using:
One light purple + one dark purple pipe cleaner
Two dark purple pipe cleaners

This gives your bouquet a nice range of purple shades for realism.

Make a total of:
14 light purple flowers
14 mixed (light + dark)
14 dark purple flowers

You'll have 42 flowers in total.

Step 6: Assemble Mini Bouquets
Group 7 flowers into one mini bouquet with a mix of purple shades. Wrap them tightly together using floral tape and gently fan out the flowers for a fuller look.

Make six mini bouquets.

Step 7: Assemble the Main Stem
Take a floral stem, add hot glue to the tip, and attach one bouquet. Wrap the base tightly with floral tape. Continue adding the other five bouquets one at a time, wrapping as you go.

Add a bit of tissue paper around the stem to thicken it, then wrap again with floral tape.

🍃 Step 8: Make the Leaves
Fold one green pipe cleaner in half. Twist it around 4cm from the base to secure, then slightly fan out the ends to form a leaf base.

To make the leaf frame, hook a pipe cleaner around the top of the leaf shape and guide the other end to the bottom. Shape and secure it by wrapping once around the frame.

Now start filling the leaf using another pipe cleaner. Fold about 2cm at the tip and attach it midway through the frame. Then begin wrapping around the shape to fill it in.

Trim any excess and adjust the shape to your liking.

Step 9: Final Touches
Once the leaf is complete, use floral tape to attach it to the main stem.

Repeat the same for any extra leaves you'd like to add.

✨ And you’re done! You now have a stunning, handmade hydrangea bouquet that looks beautiful in a vase, as a decoration, or even as a heartfelt handmade gift.
