You Can Buy More Stuff, but You Can't Buy Love

You can buy stuff, but you can’t buy love
which is what most people need a mountain of.
You can buy stocks, bonds, or some rubber gloves.
You can buy more stuff, but you can’t buy love.

You can ring your mansion with an iron fence,
hire your own guards to act in your defense
Put some NO TRESPASSING signs on your yard
but without love, life is gonna be hard.

You can buy stuff, but you can’t buy love,
which is what most people need a mountain of.
You can buy stocks, bonds, or some rubber gloves.
You can buy more stuff, but you can’t buy love.

You can cheat on taxes so you don’t pay none,
with the money saved you can buy a gun,
get a great big safe to keep your cash secure
but for loneliness, money ain’t the cure.

You can buy stuff, but you can’t buy love

You can get a bargain on the things you buy
but it all means nothing when it’s time to die.
Cause those things you bought are not designed to care
