This is the longplay of Robocop, beat 'em up/run-and-gun/action game developed and published by Data East for Arcades in 1988, based on the 1987 film of the same name. This game was soon adapted for home consoles and personal computers. This is the video of the Arcade version.

The game follows the action and environment of the movie, some scenes are quite faithful, others are more summarized.


After the intro (which unfortunately goes by too fast, if you want to read pause the video): Robocop starts in the city, but soon heads towards a drug refinery, killing the bandit until he reaches the OCP, where he faces human enemies as well as other robots such as ED-209 and other killing machines. Along the way, our hero will collect a lot of weapons like lasers and bazookas, but the enemies are also very well equipped.

The game has few commands: directional pad to make the hero walk, a button to shoot and punch and another to jump. Robocop can also shoot diagonally, which is essential as many enemies appear from above, in windows, balconies and platforms, making the practice of shooting in all directions important for progress. It is necessary to proceed with caution, since life does not regenerate between one stage and another (only with items or putting another credit, typical of many Arcade games of that time). There are also bonus stages, in a first-person shooter against moving and static targets. The better your performance, the more you recover energy and earn points.

The game was a critical and commercial success. The arcade game was the highest-grossing arcade game of 1988 in Hong Kong, and reached number-two on Japan's monthly Game Machine arcade charts.
Robocop for Arcade follows the action and environment of the movie, some scenes are quite faithful, others are more summarized. Robocop's gameplay is quite similar to the game Bad Dudes Vs. DragonNinja, also released in 1987 and also by Data East.
