Clinical feature-
In 95% cases- start from rectum & spread to colon
Cardinal sign- early morning spurious diarrhea
Small multiple superficial ulceration
15-20 motions / day mixed with blood & mucous
Nausea & weight loss
In acute episode- high grade fever, abdomen distension, tenderness, anemia, shock
Later- severe dehydration, malnutrition, toxic megacolon etc.

Investigation
Inspection-sec. ulceration in anus
Per rectal examination- finger strained with mucous & blood
Blood test
Proctoscopy- initial stage- Inflammatory change
Advance cases- Pinpoint ulceration
Colonoscopy- SMS ulcer with pinpoint ulcers
unhealthy mucosa b/w 2 ulcer
Stool analysis
Barium enema

Treatment-

No specific T/t but improve condition by various management-
Hospitalization or Bed rest
Good nutrition & electrolyte balance
Eradication therapy & Psychotherapy
Sedatives
Anti spasmodic drugs
Blood transfusion
