Mani Monlam refers to a specific type of aspiration prayer or chant that revolves around the recitation of the "Six-Syllable Mantra" of Avalokiteśvara (Chenrezig in Tibetan), the bodhisattva of compassion. The mantra is "Om Mani Padme Hum."

"Mani" in "Mani Monlam" pertains to the "Mani" in "Om Mani Padme Hum," and "Monlam" means aspiration prayer or wish.
