The 'dried blood spot' (DBS) sampling (medication measurement via a finger prick) gives you the opportunity to sample your own blood at home via a finger prick. The blood is used to determine the amount of medication in your blood.

Your treating physician will tell you at what time you need to take your blood sample. These moments and the time of the medication intake are very important and you should mention them on the application form as indicated in the explanation.

You puncture yourself in the finger using a disposable skewer and collect blood using the "DBS kit". After you have done this, you can return the "DBS kit" with the return envelope to the LUMC for the medication measurement.

The results of the DBS medication measurement will be discussed with your attending physician at your next visit or telephone appointment.
