Pete Williams — Is My Ring On Your Finger

His real name was Peter LaTorre and was born in Italy. His family immigrated to the United States. He started singing with his brother's hillbilly band. His brother was called Smokey Williams, so the band took to calling him Pete Williams. Early on he was known as Wyoming Pete when he was in some early groups. He got some exposure in San Antonio, TX when his family moved there. But Pete moved back to the Schenectady, NY area where he lived the remainder of his life. This song was written by Wayne P. Walker around 1957 or so. It was recorded by the likes of Carl Smith, Webb Pierce and Hawkshaw Hawkins. We had some pictures and emails in our collection and decided it was time to tell his story.
