Pappenheimer Marsch. Michael Haydn. A reminder of the Thirty Years'War, this piece is also known as the "March of the Pappenheim Horsemen", and refers to General Heinrich Duke of Pappenheim, who in 1623 commanded a regiment of cuirassiers in the Imperial army, and was killed as an ally of Wallenstein at the Battle of Lützen in 1632. The Pappenheimer Marsch was included in the list of historical marches of the Imperial Austrian army, to whose 8th regiment of Dragoons it was assigned.
