COLUMBUS – Water levels are starting to decrease, but there is still plenty of work left to be done around the Columbus area.

Mayor Jim Bulkley met up with News Channel Nebraska on Friday afternoon to provide a status update on the flooding situation around the Columbus area, and the numerous rescue missions that the National Guard assisted with over the last two days.

Bulkley also said that through Platte County Emergency Management and the United Way, a fund called the Columbus/Platte County Area Disaster Fund is in the process of being set up to assist those in need following the flooding disaster.
