Biking the Three Notch Trail - Charlotte Hall, Maryland (GoPro HERO9)

I used the GoPro HERO 9 Black's TimeWarp 3.0 feature to capture a recent bike ride along the Three Notch Trail in Charlotte Hall, Maryland. The Three Notch trail is approximately 11 miles long and is entirely paved. The trail is built on a former railroad right-of-way and trains ran directly through the county until the early 1960s.

For this ride, I parked at John V. Baggett Park, which is just south of Mechanicsville. I went on a Friday morning and the parking lot was basically empty and had a lot of parking spots (free parking). There are also restrooms available at the parking lot. From the parking lot I took the trail north for approximately 11 miles to where the trail ends at the intersection of Deborah Drive. Once I got to this point, I started recording and I turned around and headed back to John V. Baggett Park.

Since I did this as an out and back ride, the total ride came out to around 22 miles for me. One thing to note is that there are several road crossings (some of which are busier two-lane “highways”) concentrated on the south section of the trail. All of them are marked and have lights/signs/crosswalks, but it is just something to be aware of as you are on your ride.
