Here’s how to setup full body tracking with the Meta Quest 3

Here’s what you’ll need:
A Meta Quest 2 or 3
3 Vive Trackers
USB dongles (came with the trackers)
Two Extra dongles if you plan to use Index Controllers
Two Base stations (1.0 or 2.0 works fine)
Track Straps
A VR Ready PC
Recommended: Wifi 6 router OR dedicated router for quest (smoother experience)

Step 1: Install Programs
Install Steam
Install SteamVR
Virtual Desktop (From Quest store $19.99. NOT the Steam Store version)
*Alternatively, use oculus link software (not discussed here bc it’s trash)
Install Virtual Desktop Streamer. Enter your Meta Quest username.
Install OpenVR Space Calibrator (Lets steamVR & quest tracking systems work together)
Website looks confusing. Look for “Latest” on the right panel. Download the exe file. Run it.

Step 2: Calibrate
Plug in & Turn on Base stations.
Run Virtual Desktop Streamer on PC
Put on Quest.
Run Quest’s Virtual Desktop. It will link up to your PC if you have the correct username in Virtual Desktop Streamer.
Click Run SteamVR.
Turn on one vive tracker and hold it.
From within Steam, click the tray icon for Space Calibrator.
From the menu, choose:
“Left Quest Controller”
“Vive Tracker”
Click “Start Calibration” & do figure 8’s until it’s done.
Turn the other vive trackers on.

Step 3: Turn on Stage Tracking in Virtual Desktop
From the virtual desktop streamer app settings, navigate to stage tracking and select it.

Step 3: Index Controller Users
To use Index controllers, restart steamVR & the Quest, but this time hide your controllers from your headset or remove the batteries.
In Quest, point your head & Use the volume up button to click virtual desktop.
Run SteamVR on your PC by clicking it or turning on your controllers. Pair the controllers if needed.
