There’s a sense of coming full circle with Daz-i Kue remixing a Da Lata track featuring the magical vocals of Bembé Segué as both of their talents came to the fore with the broken beat movement. Over the years Bembé has featured alongside such luminaries as 4-Hero, Kyoto Jazz Massive and Mark De Clive-Lowe as well as her original collaborations with IG Culture, New Sector Movements and Likwid Biscuit. Daz was an integral member of Bugz In The Attic as well as being in demand as an engineer and remixer on countless other productions. Since his move to Atlanta, Daz has worked with many of the city’s Black music stars, including fellow emigré Julie Dexter whose recent Deja Vu album he co-produced.

Reprising her creative relationship with Chris Franck which first blossomed with “Serious” the lead single and title track of Da Lata’s second album, Bembé’s work on Thunder Of Silence has made it one of the most talked about tacks from their current offering Birds, garnering much support from Gilles Peterson and other tastemakers. Daz's treatment is suitably “bruk” whilst retaining many of the organic elements, harnessing the guitar, clavinet and funky synths to a stuttering rimshot and and bass drum pattern underpinned by some resolutely dirty bass. As the broken sound has been enjoying something of a renaissance recently with a whole new generation of producers and DJs, this remix showcases the talents of two of the evergreen originals.
