Ah yes, the sound of OBNOXIOUS BEARINGS coming from a Maxtor drive in the early 2000s. How memorable.

I reckon many people had a Maxtor drive in their Windows 2000, Me, or 98 SE systems and could tell just from how the drive sounded. While iconic, these weren't the most reliable drives available at the time as both Seagate and Western Digital had better options even if they didn't provide as much storage. Then again, IBM had the largest available drives but those were insanely unreliable.

The capacity of this drive was high end in the year 2000. Of course, capacities would break into the hundreds the following year, but for the time being if you didn't buy a 75GXP these were the best option you had. I'd say it's an ode to vintage computing, but that'd be a bit generous, wouldn't it?
