I used to live on the reservation around Lytton, BC. These are my clips from the day of the June 29th, 2021 Lytton wildfire that destroyed the town. I've been debating whether it was a good idea to upload these clips because, for the past few years, it was too painful to open them up and view them, but I've decided to put them together and share my experience of this day so that I'm not holding onto the pain any longer.

My family and I drove up to the ridge once we heard there was a fire going through the town, and we couldn't believe it. Most of my clips are short because it was hard to keep composure. For the next three to four weeks after the fire, we were without power and water, but we did have a generator going for a few hours. Thankfully, there were food donations and a muster station where we could bathe and access the internet from a family who ran Lyttonnet and who had an off-grid facility. Unfortunately on July 14th, 2022, just the next year, the Nohomin Creek wildfire would burn the West Side and burn down my own home. Seeing the Jasper Wildfire happening made me realize I was holding onto my own pain. My heart goes out to the residents.
