Was 17th century English poet John Milton an avid Qur’an reader?

Milton’s famous 17th century epic poem Paradise Lost contains a lot of similarities to the story of Adam and Eve in the Quran and Islamic teachings compared to the story in Genesis.

Professor Islam Issa says in his book ‘Milton in the Arab-Muslim World’ that “Milton’s poem is often closer conceptually and thematically to Islamic tradition than to its biblical source in Genesis.“

Many scholars believe that Milton was familiar with the Quran, and would have at least read the story of Adam and Eve.
