A 5-nation seminar was held organised by the journalist Ashis Ray in London on February 21, the 70th anniversary of Bengali Language Martyrs' Day.

The discussion addresses the role of the Bengali language in the struggle for Bangladesh's independence from Pakistan and also details India's and Indira Gandhi's role in supporting the Bangladeshi patriots.

The speakers are the present Bangladeshi high commissioner to the UK Saida Muna Tasneem, Professor Rehman Sobhan of Bangladesh, Ambassador Chandrashekhar Dasgupta of India, Ambassador Gleb Ivashentsov of Russia, Dr Ayesha Siddiqa of Pakistan (who says Bangladesh was inevitable and blames the Pakistan politicians and military for it) and Mark Tully of Britain. Ambassador Pinak Chakravarti of India intervenes as a guest.
