Yallingup Beach

There are two distinct threads in the story of Yallingup Beach.
To the left of the main beach staircase is the Yallingup lagoon, a tranquil embrace of blue encircled by shallow reef. Free of the wild wash of ocean. A slice of kid-friendly, summer-swimming heaven. And to the right? A crash of beach break. Ocean interaction for those that love to feel the push and pull of tide and wave. Surfers come for the opportunity to roll into Indian Ocean steamers that begin their curl where swell hits reef. Yallingup itself is a coddled community of small streets climbing up the hill between sand and Caves Road. The beach offers a certain kind of intimacy created in part by its small-town geography.

In Yallingup, dogs are welcome on the beach north of the Dawson Drive access path. It’s well sign posted and the exclusion zone includes from the Dawson Drive path to the Slippery Rocks Car Park. Yallingup Beach is surrounded by National Park so be careful to use the Dawson Drive entrance, so not to get stung by the rangers.

Smith Beach

Smith’s Beach derives its sense of isolation from its location. A little north from Smith’s sits the popular seaside spot of Bunker Bay. A little south, the bottom-of-town Yallingup Beach – easy walk to holiday homes and cafes.
Dispersal of crowds between multiple, iconic coastal hot spots on either side means Smith’s Beach flies a little under the radar. When the swell hits, of course, attendance numbers climb: Supertubes is widely known among the surf community for its ability to hold huge swells in those clear waters. Walkers will love the long stretch of powdered white sand. There is plenty of space to pitch a sun umbrella in relative seclusion. In winter, the ocean deepens its turquoise hue and makes for an exceptional backdrop to wild beach wanders.

Aquarium beach

In between Smiths Beach and Canal Rocks, the Aquarium is a small lagoon protected by large granite outcrops. While Smiths Beach is famous for its surf breaks, the Aquarium’s calm, crystal-clear waters makes it a favourite for snorkellers and swimmers.
