Join me aboard The Nomad Cruise as we explore how modern retail finds its way onto cruise ships—and onto the streets of two iconic Mediterranean ports: Palermo, Sicily (Italy) and Valletta, Malta.

I’m not your average cruiser, but when Johannes Voelkner (creator of The Nomad Cruise) posted the rock star agenda (hosting hundreds of digital nomads) I figured: why not blend some retail research with ocean views?

This short video captures how high-end shopping experiences have captive audiences aboard ships—think luxury goods, cosmetics, general merchandise—all seamlessly integrated on two decks near the heart of the vessel.

Once docked, I hit the cobblestones of Palermo—one of my personal favorite cities. Just one day in port, but enough time to spotlight European names like OVS, Alcott, Sisley, and Tabacchi.

Next up: Valletta, Malta!

I met up with Leila from Digital Nomads Malta Hub (for lunch) and a quick history lesson of this beautiful island.

We then danced down main street finding retail gems such as Kiko Milano, Yamamay, Punto Roma, and the hilariously named, Souvenirs That Don’t Suck.
