This is a more advanced technique, but is an important one for anyone who wants to purify strains of yeast from mixed cultures or wild ferments, or for purifying yeast from an infected batch.

Streak plating involves "diluting" yeast across an agar plate in order to get individual colonies. These colonies can be "picked", allowing you to produce pure strains from mixed, or infected, yeast cultures.
