Описание к видео New Student Residence Construction Part 1: Sept. 2 to Nov. 11, 2022 NSCC Akerley Campus, Dartmouth

Aerial views of the new student residence construction on the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) Akerley Campus in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The new residence is very close to my home and I can see it from my window. It was very convenient just to fly my camera drone from my driveway, during different phases of construction, different times of day and different weather conditions in the period from early September until November 11, 2022. This includes views with lovely sunrises and sunsets. I also have a starting view of the empty field from August 7 (before the construction started). During this period the first ground excavations started. Much of the soil was removed and then refilled with packed gravel to provide a better base for the foundation. Flat concrete pads were poured on which wooden forms for tilt-up wall panels were constructed and then poured with concrete and a thick styrofoam insulation core. The building is "L" shaped and first the concrete footings and base walls of the East Wing were poured, followed by those for the North Wing of the building. The construction continued through December and the tilt-up wall panels were lifted by crane and installed in January, 2023. This will be shown in a video Part 2 of the construction.

Many people ask about the "strange" sound in the title clip of my video. It is the call of the Common Loon (or Great Northern Diver), a bird that inhabits our lakes and I sometimes hear and see flying over our home. For more information see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_....
