HMAS Perth II Wreck Dive 24 March 2024

HMAS Perth II Wreck Dive - 24 March 2024 - Albany Western Australia.

Double dive - first time diving nitrox.

Dive 1: Max depth 28.9m, dive time 44min, visibility ranged from perhaps 6-15m at (lower down had pretty low vis) and the water temp was 19 degrees.
Dive 2: Max depth 27m, dive time 41min.

Organised by Diving Frontiers, we were fortunate to have great conditions to be able to dive the HMAS II Perth Wreck before the swell picked up and things got rough. The visibility along the bottom half of the wreck was not great, but things were a lot better on on the top deck and the top 12m or so.

We visited one of the resident wobbygong sharks and scoped out all the corals on the deck. Not as much fish life was present at this wreck when compared to the HMAS Swan in Dunsborough (which is at similar depth), I think it might be due to the bottom here being much more silty and perhaps more frequently stirred up than the Swan.

A great dive nonetheless and I am glad I experienced it.
