​‪@CharlesBerthoud‬ put up a video recently explaining that his fretless bass cover of “Hotel California” was removed from YouTube and a copyright strike was added to his channel. In my opinion, it’s a real shame that great bands like The Eagles, among others, are notorious for allegedly blocking videos using their music and issuing copyright strikes. To me, people sharing covers and informative content about the music is nothing but a good thing, and blocking those kinds of videos does nothing but leave a bad taste in the mouth of a large part of (mostly) the younger demographic of their audience. There are many videos on this topic from YouTubers such as Rick Beato that explain this issue way better than I could, so I’ll link some of those videos below.

"Universal Music Publishing Group took down the video and issued a copyright strike on May 2nd. However, videos of Don Henley talking about their group of 60 employees whose sole job is to scour the internet for Eagles content to remove, is my reasoning for the title "EAGLES taking down my video". This happens far more commonly with Eagles than the majority of other bands, leading to the natural conclusion that they are fully aware and responsible for this."
