A fantastic sight today as the brand new Class 93s, numbers 93006 and 93002, took to the main line on one of their very first real workings!
Operating under Rail Operations Group (ROG), the pair worked train 7Q70 – Ely MLF Papworth Sidings to Wolverton Centre Sidings, transporting Class 175 units 175111 and 175115 for movement.

The Class 93 is a brand-new tri-mode locomotive built by Stadler for Rail Operations UK. Designed for both passenger and freight use, these locos can run on electric power, diesel, or battery, offering incredible flexibility and efficiency. They’re part of ROG’s move towards a greener, more modern railway — capable of reaching 110mph while producing lower emissions than older traction.

This working marks an exciting milestone for the Class 93 fleet as they begin to appear more regularly on the main line. Seeing two of them in multiple, hauling a pair of Class 175s, is something truly special — and a clear glimpse into the future of UK rail operations.
