Democratic Lawmaker Melania Stansbury questioned the absence of Attorney General Pam Bondi at a House committee hearing on the Epstein Files despite being issued subpoenas. Stansbury said that Republicans and Trump officials are not serious about justice and accountability.
She further accused Trump of creating a smokescreen with his actions on Venezuela, Greenland and Minnesota. 'What is so bad in the Epstein Files that Trump is creating chaos and violence?' she asked.
Under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, Donald Trump’s Department of Justice was required to release all investigative records related to Jeffrey Epstein by Dec 19, 2025, with only limited exceptions.
More than a month after the congressionally mandated deadline, however, the Justice Department has yet to comply with the law, raising questions about when — or whether — authorities will release the long-awaited investigative files on the late sex offender.
