When I uploaded my first video I never thought people were crazy enough to watch a full recording of a flight online, let alone subscribe, come back and see more. Your feedback and response, however, has been amazing so far. So here’s to you, the crazy ones, a full, 5 1/2 hours recording of Delta flight 1151 from San Francisco (KSFO) to Honolulu (PHNL), Hawaii in Microsoft Flight Simulator X.

I made a number of improvements to my recording and rendering processes (now in HD), so it took multiple attempts and a few weeks to get this project done. I'm still figuring out how to add camera shake to make the view more realistic, but so for the results have been mediocre and looked too unrealistic. I'm also in the middle of enhancing the CF6-6 sound set e.g. by removing unwanted noise, adding new taxi sounds etc. So I'm working hard to make the next projects more realistic, but I have to ask for your patience. It's an iterative process and it'll take some time.

I took a similar flight to Honolulu a few years ago and this recording sums up my own experience quite well. Clouds and water is pretty much everything you see throughout the entire flight and then all of a sudden a small patch of green appears in the middle of the pacific. It's an amazing experience, but it doesn't get any more boring than this; “The Men Who Stare at Clouds” :-)

This video was recorded on my 2013 MacBook Air 11" (which runs FSX surprisingly well) using FS Recorder, as well as Final Cut Pro and Audacity to post-process the video and audio.

I'm mostly interested in the audio, which I use as white noise on my earphones, when I need to focus at work for 1-2 hours straight. Yup, you wouldn't be the first one calling me crazy. Some people relax listening to ocean waves, I listen to this ;-)

These are my first attempts at recording and rendering and I'm constantly trying to improve the process/results, so any feedback and suggestions for new flights are highly appreciated.
