In July we spent a week aboard Bessie Ellen, sailing 193 miles around Scotland's Inner Hebrides on this magnificent 120 year old West Country trading ketch. We learned the ropes, indulged in outstanding food, and explored the islands of Mull, Colonsay, Oronsay, Jura, Luing, Easdale and Kerrera. We slept onboard, along with 10 fellow guests, 3 crew members, skipper Nikki, and salty sea dog/chief dolphin sniffer, Bracken.

The character of the boat, beauty of the Hebrides, excitement of learning new skills, and wonderful hospitality made this sailing adventure one of our most memorable trips to date. A huge thanks to VentureSail Holidays and Nikki for inviting us aboard to document the journey and experience our first ever hands-on sailing trip. We're hooked!
