Another video in the BMW X3M competition exploring the UKs best driving roads! This time in the Peak District and driving over The Cat and Fiddle! The cat and fiddle is one of the most notorious roads in England with lots of accidents and deaths resulting in the road being named as Englands most dangerous road! Due to this the road is now littered with average speed cameras all the way down!
Driving the cat and fiddle in the x3m competition was a bit of a let down to be honest! ive seen the videos and read the reviews of the cat and fiddle and expected adrenaline fuelled fun! I was greeted however (as i knew) with slow speeds, buses and lorrys! Things you absolutely do not associate with great driving roads! However, that aside the cat and fiddle itself is one amazing roads! it twists, turns goes up and down it has amazing corners, sheer drops to the side black and white railings to make you feel like your on a race track and some of the best views in england across the beautiful peak district.
The x3m (of course) was amazing and was built to tackle roads like this with no problem, it didn't break a sweat and unfortunately was held back by the traffic and cameras, it was dying to be unleashed!!
Overall i gave the cat and fiddle a 7 out of 10! yes it has phenomenal turns and scenery but you cannot ignore the fact i was doing less than 30mph for a large portion of the drive!! Such as shame as clearly the cat and fiddle has the potential to be up there as was one of the very best driving roads in england and one the bmw x3m competition would devour but sadly its just a bit frustrating!!
The x3m however has plenty of more trips and journeys planned! I have a few ideas of more great driving roads i want to explore! The Buttertubs pass, the Evo triangle, Llanberis pass and the Marine drive around the Great Orme are next on the cards!! Like i mentioned in the video if you have any suggestions of great driving roads or roads you would like to see me tackle and make a video on please please let me know, theres nothing like local knowledge and google always throws up the same roads!!
