AD Ahri has seen genuine high elo use before by some dedicated players, owing her entire purpose to her ultimate and E, focusing them almost entirely on their utility for escaping, kiting, and catching. This, combined with sustained DPS, constant Spellblades, lead her to be a hard-to-catch, constant threat with especially deadly pick power when left unattended, and according to her frequent players, can take a lot of control on dragon side in bot lane.

In Arena, where sustained damage can help against the absurd abundance of tanks and juggernauts, AD Ahri may outdamage her AP counterpart even here, and potentially better leverage her utility when not relying on them for damage. Even in this lobby where anti-tank options were hardly necessary, I couldn't imagine doing as well here as an AP Ahri.

Also it's fun.
