Security was tightened across major religious and heritage locations in Delhi after intelligence agencies issued alerts about a possible terror threat. Authorities enhanced surveillance around the Red Fort and nearby areas of Chandni Chowk following inputs warning of a possible explosion attempt.

Sources indicated that Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba allegedly listed prominent religious places among potential targets. Intelligence agencies suspected that an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack could be attempted, prompting precautionary measures across sensitive zones.

Security agencies intensified CCTV monitoring, vehicle checking drives and deployment of additional police personnel. Bomb disposal squads, dog squads and quick reaction teams were placed on standby while coordination between central intelligence agencies and Delhi Police continued. Officials clarified that the inputs remain under verification and the alert is precautionary.

The warning comes months after a deadly explosion near the Red Fort November 2025 that claimed several lives. Authorities urged citizens to stay alert while maintaining calm as investigations continue.
