This is the second episode of Valley of Flowers & Hemkund Sahib Yatra, in this episode we have traveled from Joshimath to Ghangaria village, and we have explored Vishnuprayag and Govind Ghat in between.

About Vishnuprayag

Bedecked on the holy confluence of Alaknanda and Dhauliganga rivers, Vishnuprayag is a bijou city tucked at 1,372 meters above sea level in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand.
The riveting Vishnuprayag is the first one among the Panch Prayag, the other four being Nandaprayag, Karnaprayag, Rudraprayag, and Devprayag according to the descending order of river. It is here that the mighty river Alaknanda is also known as 'Vishnu Ganga' blends with the river Dhauliganga that flows from the Niti Valley. There is also a suspension bridge which helps the visitors to cross the surging Alaknanda River.

Govindghat - Gateway to Hemkund and Valley of Flowers

Govindghat is a pristine hamlet adorned by pilgrims and adventurers alike, in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand state. It is located on the way to Badrinath at the confluence of the Alaknanda and Lakshman Ganga rivers.
Govindghat is also the starting point of the trek to Hemkund Sahib and the Valley of Flowers. This celestial place is perched at an altitude of 1800 meters above sea level. Since Govindghat is nestled on the banks of Alaknanda River, a major part of it was disrupted by the 2013 Uttarakhand Floods, which was restored later.

About Ghangaria Village

Ghangaria is nestled on the confluence of River Pushpawati (coming from Valley of Flowers) and River Hemganga (coming from Hemkund Sahib, also known as Lakshman Ganga). This dewy place is snuggled in the bosom of the Himalayas and is the last human settlement on the Bhyundar Valley.

Ghangaria is a major stopover for travelers, visiting Hemkund and the Valley of Flowers. This bijou place is coiffed at an elevation of 3,050 meters in Uttarakhand. Ghangaria is covered by a thick blanket of snow during winters and remains closed between December-April.
