I Ain't Got No Home - A Woody Guthrie Song - clawhammer style

Описание к видео I Ain't Got No Home - A Woody Guthrie Song - clawhammer style

Yesterday marked 51 years since the passing of Woody Guthrie on 3 October 1967, so it seemed to be an appropriate time to record one of his songs - one that I don't think I have recorded before. This song, I Ain't Got No Home, still feels relevant today, like so many of Woody's songs, even though it was probably written over 80 years ago. It's a first person account of being a dust-bowl refugee, but it could just as well be about any enforced migrant or refugee, of whom the world has so many these days.
I play it here clawhammer style on a Jason Romero Banjo, tuned in the intervals of Open C tuning - but tuned down to A. I'm also playing an A harmonica, which is unusual for me, inasmuch as I usually play cross keys, and would use a D harmonica to play in A.
As is typical of me, I have made a few alterations here and there to the lyrics, to suit my taste - but the changes are all small and do not substantively change the meaning at all.
This was recorded on 4 October 2018.
