Lapcha La – The Last Point of India in Spiti Valley (LAC Viewpoint)

Lapcha La, also referred to as the LAC Last Point, is a remote and strategically significant location in the Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh. It falls under border tourism, offering a rare and breathtaking view of a Chinese village located just across the Line of Actual Control (LAC) – the de facto border between India and China.

🚪 Permit & Entry Guidelines
Restricted Area: Being close to the LAC, this area is heavily patrolled by ITBP and Indian Army.
Permit is Mandatory: You must obtain permission from the sumdo check post office
ID Verification: Carry multiple government-issued ID proofs (Aadhaar, Passport, etc.).

🚗 How to Reach
Base Town: Kaza, Spiti Valley.
From Kaza, travel towards Sumdo, then take the route towards Kaurik and Lapcha La.
The last stretch is often off-road and rough, requiring a 4x4 vehicle and preferably a local guide or driver familiar with the region.

Indian Citizens Only: Currently, access is granted only to Indian nationals.

⏰ Important Time Rule
**Visitors must reach Lapcha La before 1:00 PM.
This is a strict cutoff time set by the military for security and weather-related reasons.
No entries are allowed after this time due to rapid weather changes and visibility issues in the afternoon.
Army checkpoints may turn you back if you arrive late.

Best Time to Visit: June to early October, when the road is clear and weather is relatively stable.
