What was supposed to be a test chopping day just to see what the corn was looking like turned into the first official day of chopping silage. We don't typically start for another 3-4 weeks so this is rare. I think the last time we chopped silage on July 4th was 2011 or 2012 and we were in a really bad drought that year. We do have more rain chances in the forecast so we'll see what that does as far as keeping us out of the field.
Buckle up and hold on tight for the next 2-3 weeks as we share the ups and downs of corn harvest. There will be breakdowns, it's just inevitable.
