As a first-generation college student, Amanda Thompson was looking to connect with other students. So she helped create the UND First Generation College Students organization, which connects students to be helpful resources for each other.

The UND First Generation College Students organization directly embodies the main mission UND by giving students access to resources in order to make informed decisions, communicate with others effectively, serve others through mentorship, and create a sense of community. Additionally, our organization fosters the ability to connect with faculty, staff, and resources to help students be successful here at UND.

There are over 1,200 undergraduate first generation students across all colleges at UND. Based on our most recent data, about 13% of UND's undergraduate student body is 1stG.
