The SEVERED Head Of Marie Antoinette - The Executed Queen Of France

One of the most brutal moments in European History saw the Queen of France, Marie Antoinette be led to the guillotine inside of Paris for her execution. Marie was a hated figure as she spent huge sums of money on her lavish lifestyle at a time when all the French population were suffering and were starving. During the French Revolution she along with her husband King Louis XVI were arrested and were then imprisoned, but her husband would be executed on the guillotine at the Place de la Revolution. It would be here on the same device that Marie Antoinette would lose her head.

Following the guillotine blade falling though, her remains were taken to a graveyard and the grave diggers who were supposed to inter the former Queen were on a break. This allowed Madame Tussaud to sneak in and cast a model of the Queens' head, and she then made a death mask and from this we can see what Marie looked like in her final moments as the guillotine blade fell.
