Replace 2006 Toyota Matrix Rear Door Handle | The Fixit Shed

Apparently, Toyota Matrix door handles get brittle after sitting in the sun for a few years. Both, front and rear, passenger side door handles have broken. the front was an easy repair. There is an access hole, so just remove the hole cover, and loosen the screw that holds the handle on. On the rear you have to remove the inside panel, and lower the door latch mechanism to access the screw that holds the door handle on. This is a bit more complicated, so I thought it would be an interesting video.

Note from ‪@docbrazen‬ : "Fyi the torque called for the door handle cover screw is 35 in lbs. The 3 lock assembly screws call for 44 in lb of toruqe and adhesive Three Bond 1234 or equivalent, you can use loctite blue 243 which is the oil resistant version. This is all from the offical Toyota Matrix service manual."
