Intro to Syntax 4: Wh-Movement and Theta Roles

Описание к видео Intro to Syntax 4: Wh-Movement and Theta Roles

This week we’re beginning an exploration of an incredibly important concept in generative syntax: Movement! I’ll introduce subject-auxiliary inversion and wh-movement- what they are, where they take place, and have a peek into some explanations as to why. Along the way, I’ll introduce the CP and its functions, as well as the concept of Theta roles and Baker’s notion of UTAH along with them. If you’re interested in learning more about linguistics and natural language syntax, stick around and we’ll explore these ideas in more depth in future videos!
