Oasis - Live in Seattle, Paramount Theatre, 5/4/2000

Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants indeed.

In 1991, Nirvana rocked the Paramount Theatre on Halloween. On the 6th anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death, Oasis rock the Paramount.

One of the shorter gigs of the tour actually. Noel would usually switch between Hey Hey, My My and Helter Skelter, sometimes playing both later down the road, but choses to play Hey Hey, My My in honor of Kurt's passing. It's a great version of the song too.

Sunday Morning Call is replaced by Where Did It All Go Wrong? in the setlist. Where Did It All Go Wrong? was released as a radio single in the states, but because there was no official release (unlike Sunday Morning Call), it didn't perform well. At least the song was performed relatively close to it's release, unlike Sunday Morning Call, which disappeared from the setlist by mid May and it's single was released in July. It probably would've been played during their European festival tour, but for some reason Noel didn't join the band for that bit of the tour... Wonder why?

Side-note, this isn't the first time Oasis would release and single and not play it post release. The first victim? All Around The World. Released January 12th, 1998. If Liams voice didn't go kaput four days prior, it probably would've seen the light. Another side note, if you've ever seen the photo of Ashcroft and Liam singing next to each other... it's from that session.

Anyway, back to the gig again. Not a lot of change, but Liams voice is starting to dip.

Someone calls out to Noel for a song before Where Did It All Go Wrong? and Noel hits him with a snide remark about how you cant go anywhere without hearing that stupid song. You can't hear what the person calls out of him, but from what I could recall, it might've been Champagne Supernova. I'm not sure why that was the song that came to me, but I do remember reading a few articles a while ago where there was a point where Noel would refuse to play Wonderwall or Champagne Supernova. It's probably more likely that article was written around 2002, where neither song was played for a long time. But it does make you wonder what that person requested to Noel.

It's a good gig, they play like they mean to in a revered venue in Seattle. Hey Hey, My My is ferocious.
