Dómhnal Slattery is a global entrepreneur. The company he founded in 2010, Avolon, made over €1bn in profits in 2018. Its investment deal with Japanese giant Orix in November of 2018 represents the largest ever transaction between an Irish and Japanese company, involving a total of $2.2bn.

Avolon, based in Dublin, is the third largest aircraft lessor in the world, As of 31 December 2018, Avolon had an owned, managed and committed fleet of 971 aircraft. Avolon has received many industry awards since formation in 2010, most recently the Finance Dublin 2018 M&A Deal of the Year Award and the Company of the Year and Aviation Leasing Achievement of the Year Award at the 2016 Aviation Industry Awards.
