Samba Touré grew up in the Timbuktu region and is the musical heir to the legendary Ali Farka Touré, the 'king of the desert blues', who passed away in 2006.

After the successful release of the album Wande (Glitterbeat, 2018) that reached the top of the world music charts, followed by a great European tour during the spring of 2019, Samba has returned to the studio in Bamako to play a more 'traditional' and record an acoustic album, a return to his musical roots, in Timbuktu style. His album Binga was released in 2021.

After mixing his own original style with western and American blues influences on his last 3 albums: Albala in 2013, Gandadiko in 2015 and Wande in 2018, Samba felt the need to return to his own original roots, namely Songhai music. This style is too easily billed as 'desert blues', while that label includes so many styles and artists with hardly any relation between them. Songhaï music has its own characteristics and codes that Samba likes to show to its audience.

The new album will be promoted with a new tour in trio format: in addition to Samba Touré we will also welcome the ngoni maestro Djimé Sissoko and the great and powerful Souleymane Kane on percussion. Samba will not only present his acoustic music, but will also perform his best electric songs from his previous records.
