Alloy Wheel Welding/Cracked Alloy Wheel Repair step by step (Aluminium TIG Welding)

Описание к видео Alloy Wheel Welding/Cracked Alloy Wheel Repair step by step (Aluminium TIG Welding)

Quick step by step guide of welding an alloy wheel. Sorry no actual welding footage. (Using cheap Chineese single phase TIG)

A weld on an alloy is always gonna be a weak spot due to the way aluminium behaves with heat, but I do a lot of these and I’ve never had one come back cracked again apart from rare occasions where it’s obviously been physically hit hard again. What I didn’t show on this video is that I do multiple passes, before adding any material I have the wheel preheated with the torch and welded with parent metal only to make sure of no inclusions. I’ve got my own techniques to stop the weld being a stress point as much as possible, but it is what it is. I do like to think that I do them to a better standard than 99% of other people out there welding rims, some that I’ve seen are horrendous and I’d never have let them out the door if I did them.
